Lull is a home screen for your Android phone. There is no account and no server. Lull does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising.

The app does not hold the Android internet permission, so it cannot send your settings, app list, usage, or notifications anywhere. You can check that in the Play listing under App permissions. Subscription checks go through the Play Store app on this phone, which is separate from Lull.

What stays on this phone

The following stays in the app’s private storage. It is not backed up to Google or transferred to another phone. Uninstalling the app, or using Android’s Clear storage, deletes it. There is no copy on a server.

Lull does not keep its own record of your payment. It asks the Play Store app whether the subscription on this Google account is active.

Permissions

Each of these can be declined. The home screen still works. The feature that needs the permission stays off, except where a daily limit is safer when usage access is missing, as described below.

Apps you can launch

Lull reads the names of apps that can be opened from a home screen, so it can show those names instead of icons. That list stays on the phone.

Accessibility

If you turn it on, Lull sees which app is in front. It does not see what is on the screen, and it does not read what you type. It uses the foreground app to apply a delay or a block you set, including when an app is opened from Recents or a link, and to show the timer you chose. Lull is not an accessibility tool.

If Accessibility is off, opening an app from Lull still follows your delay or block. Recents and links can bypass it until you turn Accessibility on.

Usage access

If you grant it, Lull reads how long each app has been in the foreground today, on this phone, so a daily limit you set can run out. Those figures are not sent anywhere.

If usage access is off, an app with a daily limit stays blocked. Lull will not guess how much time is left.

Notifications

If you grant notification access, Lull can read ordinary notifications from the apps on this phone. It stores the title and text, as described above, so you can open them from history. It hides a notification only when you have blocked or muted that app. Phone, Messages, and Clock are not hidden.

If notification access is off, alerts are not hidden and the history stays empty. Nothing from a notification is stored.

Subscription

Lull is free for 7 days, then $1.99 a month, billed by Google Play. The price you see in the app is the price Play returns for your country. Google Play processes the payment. Lull never sees your card number. You can cancel in Google Play subscriptions. If a renewal payment fails, Play may keep the subscription active for a short grace period. After that, the home screen asks you to subscribe again. From that screen you can also choose a different Home app.

Google’s handling of the purchase is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Deleting your data

Clear notification history in Settings to delete stored notification text without uninstalling. Uninstalling the app, or Clear storage in Android settings, removes everything Lull has stored. Because nothing is sent off the phone, there is no server copy to request.
